Alvin H Butz, Inc. has been headquartered in Allentown since 2006 when we moved our offices from South Whitehall to the struggling downtown with hopes of encouraging additional developers to do the same. In 2013 we expanded the original Butz Corporate Center and have successfully leased 95% of the building with only retail space available on the first floor. As a result of the demand for Class A space and the tremendous revitalization the downtown is experiencing we have completed construction of 842 which includes 55,000 square feet of Class-A office space on seven floors. It is their belief that a healthy and vibrant downtown is critical to the success of the entire Lehigh Valley region. The Butz Corporate Center is located in the Neighborhood Improvement Zone (NIZ). Created by a state law in 2011, the NIZ is a special taxing district that encourages development and revitalization in Allentown. Under the law, certain state and local tax revenues generated by new and existing businesses within the NIZ can be used to pay debt on bonds and loans that are issued for qualifying capital improvements in the zone. Businesses located in the NIZ enjoy reduced rent, but also are contributing to a strengthened, more collaborative urban community.
